Beats without Barriers

Beats Without Barriers is a concert access initiative that creates inclusive, accessible live music experiences for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Through partnerships with venues, artists, and community organizations, BWB transforms traditional concert settings into welcoming, sensory-inclusive environments to include individuals with a wide range of abilities and differences. We’re breaking down barriers so everyone can experience the energy and connection of live music.

Beats without Barriers isn’t just about access, it’s about belonging. Music is a powerful tool for connection, and no one should be left out. Our events help individuals with disabilities:

  • Feel seen, heard, and included

  • Participate more independently

  • Benefit emotionally, socially, and therapeutically from a live music experience

They also inspire venues and artists to lead the way in making music more inclusive for all.

Why it matters:

Beats without Barriers works with venue and musicians to:

  • Host modified short-format concert events after or around sound checks or off-peak hours,

  • Develop sensory-inclusive accommodations tailored to all needs, whether that means low lighting and quiet zones or lively, bright, and energetic settings with highly stimulating sensory elements,

  • Provide ASL interpretation, captioning, and accessible seating, while ensuring ADA compliance,

  • Collaborate with artists across musical genres to reflect a diversity of interests,

  • Support families, caregivers, and staff in enjoying live music alongside their loved ones and community

What we do:

Beats without Barriers is designed for children and adults with developmental disabilities, especially those in inclusive education, day services, or therapeutic programs, though all are welcome.

Who We Serve:

Whether you’re a venue, an artist, or a community partner, you can be part of the change. Let’s make sure live music is truly for everyone. Contact us to collaborate, sponsor, or attend an upcoming event.
